“My B2B Product is Too Boring for a Blog”
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.
It’s a common complaint among B2B businesses and understandably so. After all, how many blog posts can you write about industrial fans or flood vents or office supplies or safety equipment?
Quite a few, it turns out.
Because the objective is not to write post after post about your product or service. The objective is to write engaging content that your customers will value and that will help with your site’s search engine results. To do this, broaden your blog post topics to include:
- Answers to common client questions
- “How to” posts
- Problems your product/service has solved
- Updates on your industry
- Updates about your business.
How do you come up with these topics? Some arise organically in the course of running your business. Make a note of them as soon as they come up, otherwise you’re guaranteed to forget them.
Other topics you can get by monitoring industry journals, websites and setting up Google alerts. Interviewing customers and conducting surveys are another great way of getting new topics for blog posts.
